Congratulations to McLean’s Medical Director Dr. Robert S. Dicks for being named to the Best Doctors in America List® in the category of Geriatric Medicine.

Published in the January 2014 edition of Hartford Magazine, selections to the Best Doctors list are based on physician surveys; physicians cannot pay to be included on the list nor are they paid to provide their input. According to Best Doctors, physicians are asked questions that include, "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?"

Based on the initial list from the physician survey, Best Doctors then checks the nominated physicians in several areas, including credentials and clinical activity, to create the final list of honorees. Only about 5 percent of U.S. doctors earn inclusion on the list, according to Best Doctors.

"We are pleased to see Dr. Dicks recognized by his fellow peers for providing high-quality patient care," said McLean President David Bordonaro, "Awards such as Best Doctors truly reflect the uncommon commitment and expertise Dr. Dicks provides to his patients  – something we at McLean have known since he began working with us many years ago. His dedication to compassionate, quality patient care is consistent with our goal of being a premier provider area residents turn to for quality, expertise and trust.”

The Best Doctors in America List is compiled by Best Doctors, Inc.®, an organization dedicated to transforming and improving health care by bringing together the best medical minds in the world to help identify the right diagnosis and treatment. The company’s innovative, peer-to-peer consultation service offers a new way for physicians to collaborate with other physicians to ensure patients receive the best care.
